Trauma is the emotional and physiological responses that occur to adverse experiences.  All individuals experience trauma in one form or another.  Trauma can involve a terrible event like an accident, sexual abuse, or a natural disaster, it can be inherited vulnerability, it can be bullying at school, etc.  

Symptoms of trauma can manifest emotionally, physically, and psychologically.  Some common symptoms can include the following:

  • Altered sleep
  • Changes in appetite
  • Gastrointestinal problems, such as stomach pain and diarrhea
